About us

BAAS is an independent grassroots organisation supporting people on the move. Founded in 2015 in Switzerland, BAAS stands in solidarity with and provides to the needs of people on the move by running impactful projects and awareness campaigns.

Our vision

We fight for a more socially just and integrity-based society for people on the move. The aim of BAAS is to contribute to a peaceful, solitary and mutually inclusive society. Our work is politically independent, transparently funded and supported by donations.

The work of BAAS is based on the needs and demands of displaced people.

By covering basic material needs and exercising basic rights, we provide access to nutritious food, basic medical care, appropriate clothing, education, and create peaceful spaces for people on the move and displaced people. A place where people can switch off and escape from the harsh realities of being a displaced person at European borders. Simultaneously, we raise awareness of the challenges and opportunities people on the move encounter and provide information about humanitarian emergencies. Thus, being an organisation who creates a close link between humanitarian projects on the ground and raising awareness among the European population and political decision-makers.

The activities of the organisation are carried out by volunteers, alongside four stipended project staff, exclusively non-profit and financed by donations and grant funding. There are approximately 15 remote volunteers and a fluctuation of between 2-15 international, local and community volunteers based at our project.
